Mental Health Assessment

A mental health assessment gives an overall picture of how well you feel emotionally and how well you are able to think, reason, and remember (cognitive functioning). A mental health assessment may be recommended for one of the following reasons:

• Screen for mental health issues (anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and anorexia nervosa)
• Differentiate between mental and physical illnesses
• Evaluate for mental health treatment
• Monitor the mental health of an individual who has been placed in an institution or arrested for a crime
